Associate Professor of Nursing
Dr. Shirleen Lewis-Trabeaux’s passion is teaching Community Health Nursing. In that course, she combines psychology with biological and social sciences to prepare her students to care for individuals, groups and communities.
But don’t think Lewis-Trabeaux only has experience working with the tight-knit Cajun communities of south Louisiana. She and her children also lived on the island of Ibiza in the Mediterranean in 1979. Such diverse experience helps her instruct students on adding a family and community touch to the nursing process.
To Lewis-Trabeaux, caring for families and the community is not just her passion at work but also at home. In her spare time, she most enjoys spending time with her family, friends and especially her grandchildren. She also gardens.
