Reserved Mardi Gras Parking Spots at Nicholls are Now Available

Nicholls Parking Services is now accepting applications for reserved, premium Mardi Gras parking spaces.

Options for parking on the Nicholls campus for Mardi Gras parades are:

  • Free parking – Parade-goers can park their vehicles at no charge in one of the interior campus parking lots not directly along the parade route. There are no campers allowed in these lots.
  • Pre-paid seasonal reserved parking – Parade-goers can reserve premium parking spaces adjacent to the parade route for campers, cars or trucks for the entire Mardi Gras season. The costs are $50 per car/truck/van and $200 per camper (includes 1 vehicle per camper in the assigned lot).
  • Parade-day paid parking – Parade-goers can park their car/truck/van in designated lots adjacent to the parade route. The cost is $10 per day per vehicle, sold on a first-come, first-served basis. There are no campers allowed in these lots.

You will not have a reserved space until a completed application and full payment are received. Parking Services only accepts checks or money orders made out to Nicholls State University.

Applications and payments may be brought to the Police Department in Calecas Hall. Payments will be accepted from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday-Friday.

Parking Permits for 2015-2016

As of  June 1, 2014 all students and Faculty or Staff must present a Nicholls ID  when applying for either a parking permit or a temporary parking pass. All visitors need to have a Drivers License to obtain a visitor’s parking pass. NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE.

You can obtain your Nicholls ID from the Colonel Card Office located in the Student Union.

Permits for the 2015-2016 School Year

On line applications will be available from May  18, 2015 to July 17, 2015. Remember, decals will not be mailed out or delivered until after July 6, 2015.  You must come by Parking Services prior to the start of fall semester if you do not receive your parking decal.

TEMPORARY PERMIT APPLICATION

Driving a different car to campus today? You can now download and print an application for a temporary parking permit. Just fill out the application with your information and the information of the vehicle that you will be driving. Bring your application to our office and we will give you a temporary permit. Each temporary permit issued is valid for that one vehicle for two consecutive weeks. You are allowed to have two free temporary permits per semester only if you have a current decal from that school year. If you have not purchased a decal for the school year and get a temporary permit, you will be charged the full price of a permit. The parking rules for use of a temporary permit are the same as those with a regular permit.

2015 Mardi Gras Parking Times

For the parade at 5:30 pm on Saturday, February 07, 2015: Campers will be allowed to park only between 12:00 pm and 4:00 pm. Campers will remain overnight but must leave by noon on the following day.
Vehicle spaces will be opened up at 12:00 pm for those who purchased a reserved space in advance. All vehicles purchasing a space the day of the parade will not be allowed in until 2:00 pm.

For the parades beginning at 12:30 pm on Sunday, February 15, 2015: Campers will be allowed to park only between 1:00 pm and 6:00 pm on the Saturday before the parades. Campers will remain overnight and will have to leave directly following the parades on Sunday.
Vehicles spaces will be opened up at 8:00 am for those who purchased a reserved space in advance. All vehicles purchasing a space the day of the parade will not be allowed in until 9:00 am. All vehicles will be directed to leave immediately following the parades.

We will begin accepting applications on Monday, January 12, 2015. You will not have a reserved space until a completed application and full payment are received. We only accept checks or money orders made out to Nicholls State University. NO CASH IS ACCEPTED!

You can bring your application and payment to the Police Department in Calecas Hall. Payments will be accepted from 7am to 2:30pm Monday-Friday when the University is open.

NEW OFFICE HOURS

In an effort to better serve students and faculty/staff, new hours have been established.  Beginning August 31, 2013 parking permits will be available from 7:00a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday thru Friday.

 

Our Summer hours begin on May 27, 2014 and end of August 1, 2014. Our Summer hours are Monday thru Thursday from 6:30am to 3:30pm and Friday from 6:30am to 10:30am.
