TEMPORARY PERMIT APPLICATION

Driving a different car to campus today? You can now download and print an application for a temporary parking permit. Just fill out the application with your information and the information of the vehicle that you will be driving. Bring your application to our office and we will give you a temporary permit. Each temporary permit issued is valid for that one vehicle for two consecutive weeks. You are allowed to have two free temporary permits per semester only if you have a current decal from that school year. If you have not purchased a decal for the school year and get a temporary permit, you will be charged the full price of a permit. The parking rules for use of a temporary permit are the same as those with a regular permit.

Current parking permits expire on July 31, 2011. All vehicles on campus MUST have a current parking permit properly displayed by the first day of classes. THERE IS NO GRACE PERIOD. Citations will be issued for ALL violations on the first class day.

Students beginning classes for the FIRST time at Nicholls State University during the Summer 2011 semester MUST have a current parking permit properly displayed by the first day of classes. There is NO grace period. Come to Parking Services with your Colonel Card (no exceptions) and vehicle registration prior to the first day of classes to pick up your permit.

PARKING PERMITS AVAILABLE FOR THE SUMMER SESSION AFTER SCHEDULE ACTIVATION.

You MUST bring your COLONEL CARD (no exceptions) and VEHICLE REGISTRATION (or know your license plate #).

Be sure to have your parking permit properly displayed on your vehicle by the first day of classes. Citations will be issued at that time.

NEW OFFICE HOURS

In an effort to better serve students and faculty/staff, new hours have been established. Beginning August 31, 2009 parking permits will be available from 7:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., Monday thru Thursday. Friday hours will be from 7:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

URGENT UPDATE

Students attending night classes only must purchase and properly display a parking permit. Citations for no decal are issued during night classes.

Parking citations are issued on the first day of SPRING classes.

2009-2010 parking permits expire on JULY 31, 2010. There will no longer be a grace period during the fall semester. Citations for no decal will be issued on the first day of classes.

WHERE DO I PARK?

COMMUTER STUDENTS

During Hours of Restriction, Commuter Students may only park in parking lots, including lots near Barker Hall and at the Stadium, with a proper permit displayed. Commuter students may also park on any campus street marked with gray or unpainted curbing with a proper permit displayed. Students attending night classes only must purchase and properly display a current parking permit. Visitors to La Maison du Bayou MUST register with that office AT ALL TIMES.

RESIDENCE HALL/LA MAISON/FAMILY HOUSING STUDENTS

During Hours of Restriction, Residence Hall Students may only park near any Residence Hall (including Family Housing and La Maison du Bayou). Proper parking permit must be displayed.

FACULTY/STAFF

During hours of restriction, Faculty/Staff may only park in faculty/staff zones identified by red curbing. Proper parking permit is required.

VISITORS

Visitors may park in identified visitor parking spaces on campus. If coming to campus for a specific activity, the sponsoring office will issue parking instructions to visitors.

Citations are issued during every semester, intersession, summer school and during night classes.
Every vehicle on campus must have a parking permit. Visitors can obtain one from University Police or the Office of Parking Services.
Handicap parking requires a state handicap tag AND a Nicholls handicap permit. You can not use handicap areas as unloading/loading zones.
Yellow “No Parking” zones are not loading/unloading zones.
The west side of Bowie Road is a no parking zone.
The area by the post office is a no parking zone.
Faculty/Staff permits are movable from one vehicle to another but vehicles must be registered.
If you have any questions, please contact the Office of Parking Services or refer to your parking manual.
Bought a new car? Be sure to remove your parking permit to swap for another. Otherwise, you may be charged for another permit.
