Instrumental Music Education

The following is a general overview of the requirements for the Bachelor of Music Education with a certification in Instrumental Music Education.

Professional Courses

In order to enroll in: You must have:
EDUC 250
PSYC 212
  • earned a minimum ACT score 22 or completed PRAXIS I,
  • earned a minimum of 30 hours applicable to the degree program,
  • completed ENG 101 and 102, MATH 101 and a natural or physical science elective,
  • co-registered in PSYC 212 and/or HIST 255/256 and
  • completed Application for Entry to Teacher Education.
MUED 383
PSYC 311
  • a 2.5 GPA,
  • completed EDUC 250 and
  • completed PSYC 212.
EDUC 313, 321, 368, 441
MUED 385
  • completed MUED 383.
EDUC 463, 465
  • completed all other coursework applicable to the degree with no grade lower than a “C”,
  • a 2.5 GPA,
  • passing scores on all required Passport Exams and
  • successfully completed the Portfolio.

Music Courses

In order to enroll in: You must have:
MUS 323, 432 completed MUS 212.
MUS 340 or 341 completed MUS 240 and 243 (co-requisites).
MUS 371 completed MUS 272 and successfully passed the barrier portion.
MUS 400 completed MUS 372.
