The Alexander-Soares violin and piano duo was formed in 2005 and has since then performed in several venues including the Sala Cecília Meireles, the Theatro José de Alencar, the Conservatório Pernambucano de Música, and the Cine Banguê in Brazil; the University of Akron and the Baldwin-Wallace College in Ohio; and throughout Louisiana and Mississippi.
In Spring 2007, the duo performed and taught master classes as featured artists of the II Chamber Music Festival Centro Sul e Vale do Salgado in the Brazilian state of Ceará. Fall 2007 engagements have included master classes and performances in Rio de Janeiro, Goiânia, Recife, and João Pessoa, Brazil, where they were noted for giving “a brilliant performance, marked by technical refinement, sense of ensemble, and sophisticated interpretation” (O Norte, João Pessoa, Brazil).
The duo will soon release a debut recording on the Centaur Records label, featuring five sonatas for violin and piano by composer Liduino Pitombeira. Upcoming performance venues include the Pelican State Chamber Music Series in New Roads and the Music at St. John’s Concert Series in Thibodaux, Louisiana.
