Instructor of Music and Assistant Director of Bands
Joshua Hollenbeck was appointed Instructor of Music and Assistant Director of Bands at Nicholls State University in 2011. He earned his Master of Music degree in Saxophone Performance from the University of South Florida and his Bachelor of Music Education with a certificate in Performance from The Florida State University. His teachers include Valerie Gillespie, Patrick Meighan, Dr. William Wiedrich, Dr. John Carmichael, and Dr. Patrick Dunnigan. During his time at USF, he arranged for the USF Herd of Thunder and the basketball pep band in addition to arranging marching band music for high schools all throughout Florida. He served as Lead Alto/Music Arranger/Director of Frozen Funk, a 10-member band that performed at Tampa Bay Lightning home games. For the past three years, Mr. Hollenbeck has served as Principal Saxophone in the Florida Wind Band, the only professional wind band in Florida. He was also in high-demand as a free-lance woodwind artist and also maintained a large private studio. Mr. Hollenbeck also repairs wind instruments for professionals as well as schools and students. Most recently, Mr. Hollenbeck has performed as an Orchestra Musician playing flute, clarinet and saxophones on board Celebrity and Royal Caribbean cruise lines.
