Chapter Events and Activities The Nicholls State University Chapter of Phi Kappa Phi holds two annual events—the Freshman Honors Banquet in the Fall semester and the Initiation Ceremony in the Spring semester. Freshman Honors Banquet Each fall, the Nicholls chapter of Phi Kappa Phi honors one student from each academic college at Nicholls for outstanding academic performance during their first year of full-time university studies. Their selection is based on academic achievement, personal character and recommendations of university administrators. Students dine with their college deans, who then present the awards. Also at this event, the chapter has begun awarding the Love of Learning Award to a faculty or staff member to recognize lifetime achievement in the pursuit of learning. Spring Initiation Each spring the Nicholls State University chapter of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society honors students, faculty and staff for their academic achievement with induction into the society. Attendance is free and open to the public, and the event is followed by a reception. The 2007 initiation ceremony is tentatively scheduled for Sunday, March 31. The chapter also participates in the Society’s Graduate Fellowship and Study Abroad Grant competitions. For more information, visit the Society’s website or contact the Nicholls chapter. If you have suggestions for future events/activities, please send them to the chapter president or the chapter public relations officer. |
