Goals

Nicholls State University Police Department

2012 Goals

  1. Begin the accreditation phase through the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA).
  2.  Establish a training program through the new recreation facility to improve officers’ physical abilities by 10%.
  3. Update equipment used by officers to handle crisis and hazardous situations by 10%.
  4. Expand the bicycle patrol by two officers or student officers.
  5. Improve employee satisfaction survey results in areas below 50%.
  6. Increase the number of items receiving satisfaction rates which meet or exceed the national average rating for the Act Student Satisfaction Survey for 2011-2012 as compared to 2009-2010.Update emergency response protocols and flip charts.
  7. Complete all requirements by CAS.
  8. Make the police department website more interactive by having forms, requests, and services offered by the department available for completion and submission online.
  9. Increase division-wide “Green” initiatives, including reduction of paper and other consumable operating cost.
  10. Expand the campus security camera system to include all of the La Maison du Bayou Complex.
  11. Implement a proactive community police program for residence hall areas.
  12. Develop at least one student activity/service agreement with Fletcher Community College.

 

 2011 Goals

  1.  Apply for at least one grant to assist the police department with needed resources.
  2. Reduce paper usage by at least 10%
  3. Have at least one story in the Nicholls Worth and Nicholls Newsletter about the staff and its services.
  4. The police department will appear at least once on HTV to promote awareness of the safety and security and service provided to the university.
  5. The police department will implement a proactive campaign on safety awareness programs.
  6. The police department will increase the department’s involvement in campus activities by adding one program.
  7. The police the police department will increase officers’ exposure to external law enforcement trainings.
  8. The police department will build stronger partnerships and networks among the external units of the campus community.
  9. The police department will strive to improve in all areas below 50% of the 2010 employee opinion survey by 10%.
  10. The police department will add ample time for discussion after every meeting, along with a suggestion box in the department.
  11. Increase the number of items receiving satisfaction rates which meet or exceed the national average rating for the Act Student Satisfaction Survey for 2010-2011 as compared to 2009-2010.
  12. Increase division-wide “Green” initiatives, including reduction of paper and other consumable operating cost.

2010 Goals

  1. Expand fiscal resources for the Police Department.
  2. Improve the recognition and visibility of the police department to the campus community.
  3. The police department will expand opportunities for staff development and opportunities of submitting ideas and opinions to improve services by the police department.
  4. The police department place emphasis on service learning for improving students safety and awareness.
  5. Increase the number of items receiving satisfaction rates which meet or exceed the national average rating for the Act Student Satisfaction Survey for 2010-2011 as compared to 2009-2010.
  6. Increase division-wide “Green” initiatives, including reduction of paper and other consumable operating cost.
  7. Improve the Student Officer Program (uniforms, training, and work schedule).
