Dr. R. Denis Soignier’s applied research program focuses improving the clinical management of severe, intractable pain conditions. Dr. Soignier has published basic science research on endogenous opioid systems, alcohol-opioid cross tolerance and effective measurement of pain in experimental subjects. Current research projects include an examination of 1) how the response to opioid drugs differs between individuals who are in pain and those who are not, and 2) the relationship between early childhood experiences and adult cognitive style predict a person’s response to injury and post-injury suggestion.
