Prior to becoming a full-time assistant professor at Nicholls in the Fall, 2011, Dr. Jessica Fanguy worked for the Terrebonne Parish School System for 17 years. From August, 2000 to June, 2011 she was employed as a school counselor in a middle school, high school and then junior high school setting. Dr. Fanguy is a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, a National Certified Counselor and a National Certified School Counselor. She is also a member of the American Counseling Association and the Louisiana Counseling Association. Dr. Fanguy earned her doctorate from the University of New Orleans in December, 2009 with research that explored the reactions and experiences of students who experienced being retained. Outside of teaching college courses, Dr. Fanguy has experience conducting a private counseling practice and child custody evaluations.
