Introduction: Teacher Page
This webquest was developed as part of a training model for the Nicholls State University PT3 Program, Re-Tooling Teacher Preparation. As a former science teacher, I selected a science topic that was of local interest to Louisianians--hurricanes.
I created this lesson to be used as a unit on nature's biggest storms. The webquest provides middle/high school students the opportunity to work in groups in order to explore all aspects of the weather phenomenon as well as the human connections to these horrific storms. Student groups research various aspects of hurricanes (history, ideal conditions, formation, rating systems, forecasting and tracking, safety, effects on wetlands and wildlife) and present to classmates.
Feel free to modify this webquest any way that fits your needs. The structure of this webquest easily adapts to any content area. If you find any great web sites to add to this webquest, please let me know. I would also very much enjoy hearing about your successes and suggestions. Please e-mail me.
