Hardware Basics

What is hardware? In this course, we will examine hardware related to the processes of input (Serial, Parallel, USB, and FireWire; keyboard, mouse, trackball, digital camera, and scanner), operation (difference between RAM and ROM; difference between kilobytes, megabytes, and gigabytes), storage (hard drives; external storage devices such as floppy drives, CD-ROM, CD-R, CD-RW, and DVD), and output (computer screen/ monitor, LCD projector, ink-jet and laser printers) in a computer system. Participants will begin to demonstrate a sound understanding of the nature and operation of technology systems.
