The Nicholls associate degree program in cardiopulmonary care science prepares students to function as entry-level respiratory therapists who provide respiratory care, cardiopulmonary testing and patient monitoring. Cardiopulmonary care professionals are instrumental as health care providers with patients ranging from premature infants to the elderly.

The program, which consists of a pre-professional and professional phase, can be completed in two years, which includes two summer sessions. Students grow in their experience and knowledge through the curriculum’s combination of lecture, laboratory and clinical courses. Admission to the professional/clinical phase is based on selective admission requirements.

Upon completion of the program, students are eligible to pursue dual entry-level credentials in respiratory care and cardiovascular technology as well as state licensing in respiratory care.
