|
The advanced cardiopulmonary care concentration provides individuals who already have a professional credential/license in respiratory therapy to acquire a bachelor’s degree, advanced credentials and extensive practical experience. The curriculum combines 17 credit hours of advanced respiratory therapy coursework with general education requirements and upper-level allied health courses. Students learn to treat infants with cardiopulmonary dysfunctions, perform monitoring and testing techniques such as electrocardiography and chest radiography, manage a department staff and budget and recognize the effects of antibiotics and cardiovascular drugs. Upon completion of the program, students are eligible to pursue advanced-level credentials in respiratory therapy, cardiovascular technology and neonatal/pediatric respiratory care. Electives also allow students to work toward credentials in cardiac ultrasound technology and/or invasive cardiovascular monitoring.
