Welcome!The Louisiana Region I Science Olympiad 2008will be held on the campus of Nicholls State University on February 16 , 2008.
The Science Olympiad is a tremendous opportunity for students to compete in a non-threatening environment, illustrate their knowledge of science, meet other students, win awards, and have a good time. Individual first, second, and third place Olympic-style medals will be given for each event and first, second, and third place trophies will be awarded to school teams compiling the most points. The top five teams will be eligible to compete in the Louisiana State Science Olympiad Tournament at Southeastern Louisiana University and the team that finishes first in the state competition will be eligible to compete in the National Science Olympiad tournament. A team must compete in the Regional Competition to qualify for the state tournament. Students compete in two divisions: Division B, which is for grades 6-9 and Division C, which is for grades 9-12. School administrators must complete a separate application for each division. Multiple teams from each school within a single division are not permitted.
