Take Your Dog to Work Day

Nicholls State University will celebrate “Take Your Dog to Work Day” on Friday, May 11, 2012. Launched in 1999 by Pet Sitters International Inc., the annual event celebrates canine companionship and encourages the adoption of dogs from humane societies, animal shelters and breed rescue clubs.

Beginning at 9 a.m. in the Quadrangle, the event will provide opportunities for visiting dogs and their human partners to see a dog training demonstration and have a free dental screening. There will be a Nicholls Spirit competition at 9:30, during which the top dog will be awarded for sporting Nicholls colors as well as an award for the best trick. Adoptable dogs from HOPE for Animals will be on hand as well. TYDWD Flyer 2012

The Student Programming Association tent will be set up in the Quadrangle from 7:30-11:30 a.m. for shade, and Petco is expected to provide dog owners with bags for cleanup at the event. Dog owners should bring their own bags for clean-up in their offices.

Dog owners who want to participate must follow pet etiquette, which is detailed in the flyer Petiquette (1).
