Below are some post-Gustav services mentioned by our Governor Bobby Jindal.
- FEMA Individual Assistance – FEMA Individual Assistance provides assistance for a number of things such as temporary housing, and other expenses not covered by insurance. For a full list of assistance FEMA offers, refer to this list provided by FEMA. To apply for assistance, call 1-800-621-FEMA (3362), (TTY 1-800-462-7585) or submit your application online at www.fema.gov.
- FEMA Blue Roof Program – The FEMA Blue Roof Program provides tarps to temporarily repair those roofs that have sustained damage. For more information on this program, you may call 1-888-Roof-Blu (1-888-766-3258) or visit here.
- Disaster Food Stamps – Disaster Food Stamps are available to provide food for citizens who find themselves critically in need due to the disaster. For more information, you may call 1-888-LAHELPU (1-888-524-3578) and press option 3.
- Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA) – Citizens whose jobs have been lost or interrupted because of the disaster in the 36 parishes eligible for individual disaster assistance as a result of Hurricane Gustav are eligible for DUA. Those filing new Disaster Unemployment Assistance claims should call 1-866-783-5567 between 6am and 10pm.
