Legal Aid

A lawyer is in the SGA Office on scheduled days and times to provide legal advice and notary services to students, free of charge. Contact the SGA Office at 985.448.4557 to make an appointment. Click here for the legal aid schedule.

Apartment Listings

The SGA keeps a list, updated monthly, of local apartments available for rent. Contact the SGA office by e-mail or at 985.448.4557 for more information.

Book Supply and Emergency Loans

The SGA provides this service free to students who wish to buy books/supplies and for emergency purposes. Contact the Office of Financial Aid at 985.448.4048 to apply.

Campus Activities

The SGA provides entertainment, promotes school spirit and assists students at university-sponsored events.

Copy Services

The SGA provides copying services to individual students or university-recognized student organizations. The student or organization need only to provide their own paper. Contact the Director of Public Relations by e-mail or at 985.448.4556 for more information.

Financial Aid for Student Organizations

The SGA has funds available to student organizations in need of financial assistance. Contact the Finance Committee Chairperson through the SGA Office at 985.448.4557 for more information.

Free Advertising

The Director of Public Relations can assist student organizations in need of free advertising by designing ads and/or placing them in the free ads section of The Nicholls Worth. Contact the Director of Public Relations by e-mail or at 985.448.4556 for more information.

Free Speech Alley

Students may participate in discussion on various topics at Free Speech Alley, a lectern provided as a service by the SGA in front of Bollinger Memorial Student Union. Contact the SGA Office at 985.4557 for Alley use policies.

Online Student Elections

The SGA’s Election Commission is in charge of running all student elections in accordance with the Election Code. Online voting allows students to vote any time of day or night from any computer with Internet access during the voting period. Students need their Third Party ID and N-number ID number (available in the top right-hand corner of every page of the student’s Banner Self-Service after logging in) to log in and vote. If you have any questions about online voting, please contact the Election Commissioner through the SGA Office at 985.448.4557.

Scholarships

Six leadership awards are available to students annually. SGA offers additional scholarships to Graduate Students, International Students, Freshman, Non-Traditional & Continuing Students, and scholarships for textbooks. Contact the Office of Financial Aid at 985.448.4048 or by fax at 985.448.4124. The Office of Financial Aid is located in Otto B. Candies Hall.

Seating Arrangements

The Director of Student Rights and Grievances can contact Student Services about providing special seating arrangements for students, such as larger desks, left-handed desks and desks for wheelchair-bound students. Student Grievances

The SGA’s Director of Student Rights and Grievances assists students with university grievance procedures when students have a complaint or problem at Nicholls. Contact the Director of Student Rights and Grievances by e-mail or at 985.448.4561 for more information.

Student Health and Accident Insurance Plan

Student Health Insurance is now optional. There will no longer be a mandatory student health insurance fee charged. This means that you will not see a charge on your fee bill for the student medical/health insurance.  There is an optional policy that you may select. Copies of the insurance brochure are available in the SGA office, Student Life office, in other offices around campus, and at University Health Services (985.493.2600).
