Solutions to Poverty (SToP) Week
The Nicholls State University Student Government has actively engaged in activities to support and promote the Council of Student Body President’s initiative Solutions to Poverty. This initiative was created by Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco through Executive Order to find solutions to poverty in the entire state of Louisiana.
The NSU-SGA seeks to engage the Nicholls campus to participate in this effort which is designed to “engage, support and empower local citizens to seek root causes and solutions to poverty.”

SGA’s Annual 5K Community Walk/Run
The 5K Community Walk/Run was established by the SGA to assist the university in improving the accessibility of our campus to our disabled population. The proceeds from the event will benefit the United Way of South Louisiana and the SGA’s NSU Disability Accessibility Fund.
X-Treme Spring Break 2008
X-treme Spring Break 2007 (pictures)
The Student Government Association successfully wrote and obtained a grant which allowed Nicholls State University to partner with the Bayou Area Habitat for Humanity to host “X-treme Spring Break 2007: Students Rebuilding Louisiana.” Housing, meals, site transportation, educational and recreational activities were provided for seventy-four (74) students from: Nicholls State University, Grambling State University, University of Louisiana at Lafayette, Southeastern Louisiana University and Baton Rouge Community.
Council of Student Body Presidents
The Nicholls Student Government Association is an active member of the Louisiana Council of Student Body Presidents (COSBP).
