Austin Green

web-profile-austin-green-02.jpgHis perfect day is a lazy one, fishing for a couple hours then relaxing all afternoon. But don’t let Austin Green fool you. His life isn’t missing any spice.

How can it be? Austin grew up only three miles away from the Avery Island Tabasco factory. Not to mention that his father owns Bon Ca Ca, a seasoning company that Austin may take over. That’s why he chose the Nicholls marketing program.

“I figured that if I wanted a future in business my best route would be majoring in marketing,” Austin says. “However, you have to learn every aspect of business if you’re going to run one.”

Austin hasn’t decided whether he will venture into a different business after graduation or whether he will continue the family tradition. If he does take over Bon Ca Ca, Austin plans to expand the company to reach more of the nation.

Working toward: a bachelor’s degree in marketing

Nicholls involvement:
I am a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity, Circle K and Nicholls Ambassadors. I am also involved with Nicholls Conservatives, a political group trying to become established as an organization on campus. I truly enjoy helping out on campus, especially during Homecoming Week. I don’t know what I’d do if I weren’t involved on campus; college definitely wouldn’t be the same.

I chose to attend Nicholls because …
… I liked the campus atmosphere. I’m from a small town, and I wanted to attend college in a somewhat slow-paced town. I thought I would only know one person here until I ran into a friend I hadn’t seen since kindergarten.

When I can find spare time, I enjoy …
… hanging out with friends, fishing and relaxing at home.

What I will remember most about Nicholls is …
… going through rush (fraternity recruitment). It’s a great opportunity to meet everyone who will be in different fraternities. You make numerous friends, who you then see around campus and during Greek Week.

I’ll also remember Nicholls Homecoming, which is like no other. It’s so different from Homecoming in high school, where it wasn’t really a big deal. There’s something to participate in every day of the week. My fraternity had a live band perform during tailgating and cooked all kinds of food. It was another great opportunity to meet people for the first time.
