Brett Badgerow
However, when he was offered a job in Calecas Hall as a Resident Assistant, he quickly learned how convenient it was to live less than one minute away from his classes. “Even if I hadn’t gotten the job, I would have lived on campus anyway,” Brett says. “Many students who live nearby choose to not live in the residence halls but it’s the best way to meet new, interesting people from Texas, Mississippi and across the world. You still see your high school friends on weekends, in the union and around campus.” Brett now works as a staff assistant in Calecas Hall, and he said the hardest part is remembering everyone’s name. One of the best parts of working in Calecas Hall is being close to campus activities. “The random events in the student union are what I’ll most remember about Nicholls,” Brett says. “Once there was a chainsaw juggler in the union, which was pretty intense. I try to participate in campus events, such as Crawfish Day and Winterfest, as much as I can.” |
Working toward: a bachelor’s degree in history
Expected graduation date: Spring 2010
High school: Terrebonne High School
Hometown: Houma, La.
Nicholls involvement:
I’m a member of the Nicholls Orientation Team, a Nicholls Ambassador, a Staff Assistant and former Resident Assistant in Calecas Hall and a senator-at-large in the Student Government Association.
I chose to attend Nicholls because …
… it represents the culture of the area, which I love. To me, it’s the only university in the state that takes culture to the extreme and uses the culture to its advantage. Many other universities are too big for students to experience aspects of the culture, such as hospitality and local traditions.
After college, I plan to …
… begin teaching and coaching. I hope that I can get a job close by, live in this area and give back to the community.
When I can find spare time, I enjoy …
… bowling and coaching parish recreational and high school baseball teams. I was on my high school baseball team but grew tired of playing the game. However, I still enjoy coaching.
