Dr. Mary Breaud

Assistant Professor of Education

Dr. Mary Breaud is a native of Thibodaux and was an educator of Lafourche Parish public schools for 21.5 years, prior to joining the faculty of the College of Education at Nicholls State University.

Breaud is a 1985 graduate of Thibodaux High School. She earned a Bachelor of Art in Elementary Education and a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration and Supervision from Nicholls State University. Breaud earned a Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership from Southeastern Louisiana State University.

Breaud holds a Louisiana Type A Teaching Certificate with certification in the areas of: Elementary Grades, Special Education, Provisional School Principal, Special School Principal, Child Search Coordinator, City/Parish Supervisor/Director of Instruction, and City/Parish Supervisor/Director of Special Education.

In 1993, she began her career in education as a special education teacher for the Lafourche Parish School Board at W. S. Lafargue Elementary School. She later became Assistant Principal at St. Charles Elementary and Bayou Blue Elementary schools. Breaud has spent the last 9 years serving as a District Administrator in the position of Special Education Curriculum Manager for the Lafourche Parish School Board. Breaud is now an Assistant Professor in the College of Education at Nicholls State University.

Breaud is a member of the Nicholls State Alumni Federation and the Southeastern Louisiana University Alumni. She is a member of the Louisiana Association of School Administrators. While an Assistant Principal in Lafourche Parish, she held the office of President and Vice-President of the Lafourche Parish Assistant Principal Association.

“My variety of experience and knowledge of K-12 public education will aid me in the preparation of future teachers. Breaud wants to prepare candidates to teach all students to their full potential. Research interests include topics in special education, educational leadership, preschool, and early intervention.
