Music Education

For some, music is therapy — something that soothes the soul and takes a person to another place. Others enjoy its artistic value. And yet others just see it as plain fun. Regardless of how you or your future students view it, music requires creativity, determination and practice.
Nicholls students interested in becoming music teachers can receive certification in:
- Instrumental music education curriculum guide (Word)
- Instrumental music education curriculum guide (PDF)
The music education degree program, offered in conjunction with the Nicholls Division of Music, combines education and music courses. Instrumental and vocal music students enroll in courses such as musical theory, piano, conducting and musical history. The division is home to several ensembles and performing groups. Performances and student-teaching experiences are required of both instrumental and vocal students.
