Dianne Williams
Instructor of Education and Learning Resource Center Librarian
Dianne Williams isn’t a fan of returning library books. This instructor of library science would much rather own them for herself.
In her spare time, Williams can be found in bookstores and coffee shops looking for books and magazines to add to her collection. Cookbooks and children’s books are her favorite as well as books and magazines on financial planning and simplicity.
Since 1987, Williams has not only been an instructor at Nicholls State University but has also served as librarian of the campus Learning Resource Center, which she describes as “a place where camaraderie blossoms.”
“I consider the Learning Resource Center a facility which adds strength to the College of Education,” Williams says. “Students enrolled in the College of Education depend on the LRC for its resources and technology and use it as a gathering place to plan strategies in lesson planning or assignment preparations with classmates.”
Williams believes that “motivation is contagious” and that the motivated teacher will be the one to leave a lasting impression on students. She says working with students on a daily basis is the favorite part of her job at Nicholls.
“The students keep me here,” Williams says. “I get a chance to observe them from the beginning of their program through graduation. It’s a pleasure seeing them form friendships to help and support one another.”
In her spare time, she also enjoys cooking, walking, traveling and gardening with her husband, who is retired.
