Dr. Christine Collins Hypolite
Department Head / Associate Professor of Education
Dr. Christine Hypolite knows how to measure her success. All she has to do is determine how successful her students are.
“Each time my students are able to achieve the goals and expectations that are deemed by their curriculum and those that they make for themselves, it makes me feel that I have done my job,” Hypolite says. “My goal for each of my students is to become the very best teacher they can become — it is my responsibility to them and to the children they will serve.”
Hypolite began working at Nicholls in 1994 as an assistant professor. Since then, she has served as the University Disciplinary Committee chair, Department of Teacher Education Initial Programs chair, member of the College of Education Diversity Committee, NCATE Standard 4 (diversity) chair and Praxis coordinator.
“I teach the future teachers who are entrusted to me as I would want them to teach the children in their own classrooms,” Hypolite says. “I love teaching, and, if nothing else, I would like to share my enthusiasm with future teachers.”
In her spare time, Hypolite enjoys playing the organ, reading, gardening and dabbling in a little carpentry. Her dream is to travel to all 50 states and abroad.
