1) What tests are offered at NSU?

a) ACT ( 5 times a year)
b) ACT Residual (no specific number per year)
c) PRAXIS (6 times a year)
d) ASE (6 times a year)
e) ACE (6 times a year)
f) CLEP (by appointment on Tuesday and Thursday, 8:30 am and 1:00 pm)
g) Correspondence Exams (by appointment on Monday -Thursday, 8:30 am and 1:00 pm)
h) Compass Test (by appointment on Monday-Thursday, 8:30 am and 1:00 pm)

3) How do I register for a national test?

a) Pick up an ACT test registration form at the NSU Testing Center or your local high school
b) Students can register online

4) How can I take a correspondence course, is there a fee and when can I take tests?

a) To take an LSU correspondence course, a student must first get permission from his or her academic dean on the appropriate form. For all other correspondence courses, a student must have persmission from his or her dean/advisor.
b) Yes. Correspondence exams are administered by the Academic Testing Center for a fee of $20 per exam.
c) Correspondence exams can be taken as follows:
Monday-Thursday 8:30 am and 1:00 p.m.

5) What is an ACT Residual Test?

An ACT Residual is an ACT test given at NSU which can only be used at NSU. This test is given to new incoming students who do not have enough time to register for a national ACT test before attending NSU.

6) If I am a non-traditional student (25 years or older), do I have to take the ACT test?

Non-traditional students can take the Compass test instead of the ACT. All non-traditional students must first call (985) 493-2599 to schedule an appointment.

7) What is a CLEP Exam?

Clep is the College-Level Examination Program for placing out of designated freshman and sophomore level classes. Please refer to pages 60-61 in your NSU Bulletin, and the chart compares the courses for CLEP and the NSU equivalent.
