RE: Annual Evaluations of Unclassified Personnel
We are in receipt of your February 14th memo and have discussed the issue at length. USAC feels that no information about employee evaluations should be kept in HR files until a) a uniform evaluation of Unclassified Staff is created and used by all divisions and b) all Unclassified Staff are afforded the opportunity to consistently evaluate their supervisors, a practice provided for in the policy and procedures manual. Once these two goals have been accomplished, the only information we feel should be included in the HR file is the merit rating resulting from the evaluation, as is the practice for faculty. We oppose the inclusion of the entire evaluation in the file.
If you would like to discuss this matter further, please contact me. I would be happy to meet with you or attend the Cabinet meeting in which this issue is discussed.
