Mission: The Donald G. Bollinger Memorial Student Union is the community center for Nicholls State University offering activities, programs, services and facilities that compliment the academic mission, student development and quality of campus life.
Vision: The Student Union is more than a building. We strive to be a professionally recognized system of people, services, programs, and facilities dedicated to achieving and maintaining excellence in: promoting unity, loyalty and regard for the campus community; enhancing the quality of life on campus; fostering learning and personal development through out-of-class experiences; and providing necessary and convenient goods and services.

2012 GOALS
Goal (1):
Revise and update policy and communication tools for Student Union and related operations.
(May 2012 and March 2012 for website)
Strategy: Revise and update manuals: Auxiliary Services Policy, Student Organizations. Revise and update ISS website.
Assessment: Electronic and paper documents will be revised. Hard copies will be distributed as needed and on file in unit. Website Updated.
Goal (2):
Revise and update rental fee policies to be effective July 1, 2012. (April 2012)
Strategy: Revise and update fee sheets for facility rentals and equipment use.
Assessment: Electronic and paper documents will be revised. Hard copies will be distributed as needed and on file in unit.
Goal (3):
Further develop marketing plan to create sense of school pride and to enhance collaboration with university traditions. (July 2012)
Strategy: Outline timeline and tools for year-round initiative. Long term activities program plan will be developed. Work with Auxiliary Services Marketing committee.
Assessment: Electronic and paper documents will be revised. Hard copies will be distributed as needed and on file in unit. Freshman class surveys will be used.
Goal (4):
Investigate feasibility of game room renovation. (August 2012)
Strategy: Research current industry technology, equipment and furniture to update current facility.
Assessment: Strategic plan creation. Funding source identified.
Goal (5):
Complete Captain’s room addition renovation. (October 2012)
Strategy: Complete construction. Purchase and install equipment and furniture.
Assessment: Use facility for intended purpose by late spring.
Goal (6):
Promote one new “green effort” in building facilities. (August 2012)
Strategy: Install motion detecting light switches in at least 3 rooms.
Assessment: Equipment installation.

2011 Goals
Goal (1):

Results: Partially attained. All websites, except International Student Services, have been updated (Post Office, Student Union, Student Organizations). International Student Services will be updated by March 2012. Manuals have not been updated – this goal will be carried forward to be completed by May 2012. Student Union and Student Organizations information brochures were updated.
Goal (2):
Create a strategic plan that addresses facility improvements for both the short term and long range. Purchase furniture and equipment as needed for short term enhancements to union and university events. (bmt, mh & mg) University Goal #6, Enhance sense of community.
Results: Attained.
Goal (3):
Create and implement an annual evaluation system and marketing plan based on results gathered from assessments. (bmt, mh & mg) University Goal #4, Manage fiscal resources.

Renew certification for J1 exchange program with Department of State. Renew designation for F1 international student program. (bmt & mg) University Goal #2, Ensure quality and accountability.
