Rental Procedures and Policies
The University Post Office offers rental boxes to students and staff, as well as other clients at these rental rates for one year:
Rental rates for one semester are available upon request.
|Students and Staff||$35|
|University Campus Departments||$45|
|Agencies/Programs housed on campus||$50|
|Customers not affiliated with Nicholls||$50|
Students who wish to acquire a post office box need to come to the Post Office and fill out an application for a box and have the fee added to their invoice. The fee will be charged along with your tuition and other fees.
Boxes are either combination or key accessible. If you request a key entry box, a $10 deposit is required. The deposit is to be paid at the Post Office and will be returned to you once the key is returned. There is no deposit for combination boxes, but a $10 fee is required for retrieval of combinations or lost combinations.
Please be reminded that packages will only be released to the person that is listed as the addressee. Packages will not be released otherwise, without permission from the contracted postal supervisor.
Letters and packages received for students with no post office boxes will be held in General Delivery for 15 days, and if unclaimed after this set time, will be returned to sender.
Boxes must be closed or renewed by the deadline advertised. Failure to meet the deadline will result in box closure and forfeiture of the key deposit.
Box renewals or closures must be done in person at the University Post Office. Please remember to fill out a Change of Address form upon closure of your box so that mail may be forwarded to your new address.

Goal 1 – Improve student knowledge on how to apply and get a post office box.
Goal 2 – Increase number of box rentals to students.
Goal 3 – Improve student knowledge as to the proper way to give out their mailing address, so mail and packages will be delivered to the proper facility. AKA, mail shipped via United States Postal Service will be delivered to the Post Office and packages shipped via UPS, FedEx or DHL will be delivered to the Club House at La Maison du Bayou.
