About the University Post Office

Welcome to the University Post Office information guide. Our purpose is to provide quality and efficient postal services to Nicholls students, faculty and staff.

Nicholls State University’s Post Office is a contract postal unit of the United States Postal Service and is located in the Donald G. Bollinger Student Union. We provide students, faculty and staff with the information needed to process their outgoing mail in the most timely and cost effective service available.

We do not cash checks, provide money orders, or provide any information on the contents of post office boxes.

The Post Office is closed, with limited lobby access (1:30pm – 4:30pm) on the following holidays:

  • Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s Birthday
  • Easter Break
  • Mardi Gras
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day

Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays

Any changes in the hours of operation will be advertised in the Post Office lobby & website. Notices will be placed around campus or send through email.

Rental Procedures and Policies

The University Post Office offers rental boxes to students and staff, as well as other clients at these rental rates for one year:

Students who wish to acquire a post office box should add the fee to their invoice, either with an advisor or during the registration process. The fee will be charged along with your tuition and other fess. After paying the fees, students should bring their paid receipt to the Post Office to receive box assignments.

Boxes are either combination or key accessible. If you request a key entry box, a $10 deposit is required. The deposit is to be paid at the Post Office and will be returned to you once they key is returned. There is no deposit for combination boxes, but a $10 fee is required for retrieval of combinations or lost combinations.

Please be reminded that packages will only be released to the person that is listed as the addressee. Packages will not be released otherwise, without permission from the contracted postal supervisor.

Boxes must be closed or renewed by the deadline advertised. Failure to meet the deadline will result in box closure and forfeiture of the key deposit.

Box renewals or closures must be done in person at the University Post Office. Please remember to fill out a Change of Address form upon closure of your box so that mail may be forwarded to your new address.
