Fall 2007 Freshman Institute

The Fall 2007 Freshman Institute will be held on Friday, Aug.17.

Session 1 will begin at 8:00 a.m. for students intending to major in programs from the College of Education, the College of Nursing and Allied Health, and University College.

Session 2 will begin at 12:00 p.m. for students intending to major in programs from the College of Business Administration, The Chef John Folse Culinary Institute, and the College of Arts & Sciences.

Freshman Institute, also called La Porte D’entree (The Front Door) marks the beginning of the University Studies course, required of all first semester freshmen and transfer students with less than 30 credit hours.

Freshman Institute is typically held the week prior to the first day of the fall and spring semester. The Institute will help you adjust to campus life by providing you with:

  • an introduction of academic deans and administration,
  • a Monster.com Campus2Career presentation,
  • your first University Studies class meeting,
  • an introduction to your advisor and
  • information about your selected academic department.

Q. Is Freshman Institute mandatory?
A.
Yes, Freshman Institute is mandatory for all first semester freshmen and transfer students with less than 30 hours. Roll will be taken.

Q. Do I have to attend both sessions?
A.
No, students only have to attend one session, based on their academic college. Students will be informed through the mail of which session they will be required to attend.

A.
