A Psychosocial Education Program for Sanctioned and Referred Students

A Division of the Office of Wellness Education

 

This program is designed to assist sanctioned and referred students in learning the skills needed to get Back on Track.

Requirements:

  • Students must attend 6 activity related events hosted or sponsored by the Nicholls State University Office of Wellness Education. A list of activities can be found at www.nicholls.edu/wellness_education
  • Students must attend 6 psychosocial education sessions within a 10 week period.
    • All psychosocial education sessions are held on Mondays at 3pm and Thursdays at 2pm.
    • Each week one subject will be covered both days. So students can choose which day to attend during any given week.
    • Topics will include:

Alcohol Education

Drug Education

STD Education

Sensitivity Training and Professional Decorum

Decision Making Skills

Regret Proof Your Life

It is the responsibility of the student to get proof of attendance at all events. Sanctioned students will use the Community Services Hours form provided by the Judicial Affairs Officer.

Breech of Compliance:

  • Disruptive/disrespectful behavior during activities or sessions which includes:
    • Arguing
    • Threatening
    • Resistance
    • Failure to participate

v Failure to attend required activities/sessions

If at any time a student is found to be in non-compliance, the Wellness Education Coordinator can terminate your case. Any disagreement with the WEC’s course of action should follow the following chain of command:

  1. Wellness Education Coordinator - Angie Pitre, MA - University Health Services
  2. Judicial Affairs Officer - Tommy Ponson - Student Life Office
  3. Dean of Student Services - Dr. Michele Caruso - University Counseling Center
