The National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA)<\/a> <\/b>is a voluntary,\u00a0 interstate reciprocal approach to state oversight of postsecondary distance education. The initiative is\u00a0 administered by the country\u2019s four regional higher education compacts (MHEC, NEBHE, SREB and\u00a0 WICHE) and coordinated by NC-SARA. States and institutions that choose to participate agree to\u00a0 operate under common standards and procedures, providing a more uniform and less costly regulatory\u00a0 environment for institutions, more focused oversight responsibilities for states, and better resolution of <\/i><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Does this program meet requirements for licensure in my state?<\/h3>

Each state and U.S. territory may have different professional licensure and certification requirements from those in the state of Louisiana. Nicholls State University works to confirm if programs meet the educational prerequisites for professional licensure or certification outside the state of Louisiana. Other licensure or certification requirements may include professional examinations, background checks, years of work experience, fingerprinting requirements, etc. Students who are considering an academic program that may allow them to pursue professional licensure in their state or territory are strongly encouraged to check their state\u2019s or territory\u2019s information below and contact the appropriate licensing agency to seek information and additional guidance before beginning a program outside of their state. Licensing board and contact information is provided for each state and program.<\/p>

Potential changes in requirements:<\/strong>\u00a0Licensure and certification information is reviewed and updated on this site in May of each year. Students who plan to pursue licensure or certification outside of Louisiana should be aware that state licensure requirements are subject to changes. While a program may originally meet the educational requirements for licensure, changes in requirements could impact the program\u2019s ability to meet any new educational requirements. Students should always check with their state licensure board to confirm licensure requirements.<\/p>

Important note for relocating during the course of a program:<\/strong>\u00a0Prospective and current students should keep in mind that licensing and authorization requirements vary by state and that relocating during the course of a program to another state could impact whether that student can continue in the course, meet the eligibility requirements of that state, and\/or receive financial aid funding. If students are considering relocating, they should contact their program to check for authorization and licensure eligibility requirements.<\/p>

NC-SARA is pleased to announce a new resource \u2013 the Professional Licensure Directory (<\/b>https:\/\/www.nc-sara.org\/professional-licensure-directory<\/b><\/a>)<\/b>. which will be housed and managed centrally through the NC-SARA website. At NC-SARA our data shows that the vast majority of the programs leading to licensure among participating institutions are in five fields:<\/p>
