Robby Matherne began carving at the age of 11 under the influence of Master Carver Carl Danos. Continuing to grow in this Louisiana art form, Robby attended Nicholls State University where he learned different techniques in various mediums adding to his carvings. Robby has been featured in numerous magazines, newspapers, and TV programs promoting the art of duck decoy carving. His work has been displayed in several museums, including the US, Canada, Ireland, Australia and the Bahamas.
As a tribute to the great decoy carvers of Bayou Lafourche; Dewey Pertuit (1901-1967) and Reme Roussel (1903-1972) this Ring Neck Decoy portrays the characteristics of Louisiana’s first class of Master carvers.
