Rosemary Ramaraj is a ceramic artist in Thibodaux, LA. She received her BA in Art from Nicholls State University in 2008.
Her pottery consists of thrown, altered and hand-built construction. Her work is often a reflection of elements from the natural world. Surface textures, form and glazes combined to create an abstract expression of Louisiana’s flora and fauna. Leaves, buds, pods, or scales are carved or imprinted into the clay of the thrown form.
The majority of the works are functional pieces including bowls, mugs, teapots, vases, and covered jars. the pots are made with mid-range stoneware, glazed, and fired in an electric kiln.
