The Rachel Ianni Memorial Fund was created to award travel stipends to Marine and Environmental graduate students at Nicholls State University. Rachel graduated from Nicholls with a M.S. in Marine and Environmental Biology in May of 2011. She was an avid traveler and never missed an opportunity to explore her world! After she graduated she spent time working, but was able to visit Peru to hike the Machu Picchu trail. On that trip, she was taken from us by a tragic accidental fall. In her spirit of love-to-travel, we established the Rachel Ianni Memorial fund to help current graduate students explore their world.
Students can receive up to $500 to attend a conference or up to $1,000 to participate in an internship. Award preferences are given to students that travel out of state. If you would like to support the Rachel Ianni Memorial Fund, please send a check made out to the Nicholls Foundation to:

Another way to support our mission is to attend the annual Rachel Crawfish Boil and Cajun Jam! For a modest donation of $35, participants get to enjoy boiled crawfish (and all the other good stuff like corn, potatoes, mushrooms, and sausage!), beverages, and a live Cajun band! We usually have a grill going with burgers and hot dogs for those few people that do not like or are allergic to crawfish. The Rachel Crawfish Boil and Cajun Jam is an incredible fun time – just as Rachel wants it to be!!
