Spring 2018 Job Shadowing – Application Period EXTENDED
Spring applicants are invited to take part in a once-in-a-lifetime experience.  Stop by the Dean’s office (106 White)  and scroll through the catalog of professional role models.  Please note that the dates for the site visit are flexible: shadows and professional role models choose a date that is agreeable to both.

College of Business Honors Banquet
The 48th annual College of Business Honors Banquet is scheduled for Sunday, April 15th, 2018.  Invitation letters went out last week to 2017 President’s and Dean’s List students, as well as Honor Roll recipients.  Tickets for the banquet can be purchased in 106 White Hall.  The cost is $20.00 per ticket and all tickets must be purchased by Friday, March 16th, 2018.

Pre-Law Society Upcoming Events
The Pre-Law Society will be hosting the following upcoming events:

April 11th  | 5:00 p.m. | Powell 140, Ms. Vionne Douglas: Mock Law School Class — (Topic: Immigration)  Ms. Douglas is a practicing attorney in the area of Immigration Law and is a professor at the Southern University Law Center. She will be conducting a mock law school class with the topic being immigration law.

Social Media Team advances to finals
The social media competition team from Nicholls has been selected as a finalist for CAMDA’s (Center for Advancement of Digital Marketing and Analytics) 4th Annual Social Media Competition! The team consists of:

Along with their sponsor, Mrs. Laura Valenti, they will travel to Muncie, Indiana  on April 7th  to present at Ball State University’s Student Center for the concluding round of competition.

College of Business Scholarships
Every year the College of Business awards thousands of dollars of privately funded scholarships to deserving students.  Applications are now available online using the following link:

Applications are due Friday, March 9th, 2018.  Recipients are announced at the College’s annual Honors Banquet.

Accounting Scholarships
COPAS of New Orleans Scholarship

The New Orleans Chapter of the Council of Petroleum Accountants Societies (COPAS) is excited to announce that they will award two (2) $1,000 scholarships  to local accounting students in 2018.  Please fill out an application, obtain an accounting dept. faculty sponsor signature, and turn in to Gina LaGrange, Adm. Coord. by Thurs., 3/22/18 in 133 Powell Hall. You may contact her at (985) 448-4176.  At the time the application is made, the applicant must have completed at least 12 hours of accounting courses.  Applicant must have achieved a minimum grade point average of 3.0 in all accounting courses taken.  Applicants must be US citizens and domiciled in Louisiana.  The applicant may not be the son or daughter, father or mother, or brother or sister of a current officer or member of the Board of Directors of COPAS of New Orleans.  The application is to be completed and signed by an accounting dept. faculty sponsor, who must not be the same person as the Chair (or Dean).  The Department Head (Chair) will choose 3 applicants out of the applications received and submit the applications with a recommendation letter to COPAS.
AGA Scholarships
The Association of Government Accountants (AGA) has two (2) scholarships they will be awarding.

Summer and Fall 2018 Internship Opportunities
Would you like to earn real world experience and course credit?  If the answer is yes, consider an internship.  Dr. Guidry will be taking appointments to discuss the College’s internship program with junior and senior level students.  Those students who are in good academic standing (2.0 GPA or above) with 9 hours of coursework in the internship discipline are eligible to earn 3 hours of academic credit for completing an internship. An internship is an ideal way for students to combine their academic preparation with practical experience. Internships frequently turn into permanent positions after graduation. Dr. Guidry will have an appointment schedule posted outside of her office door (106 White); appointments are available February 26th-March 1st and March 5th – 8th.

CBA Online Exam Proctoring
CBA Proctoring will be offered again this semester in 202 White Hall starting next Monday, January 29th, 2018. Students, please register for proctoring by using the link provided by your professor. Upon arrival, check in at 206 White. Times are as follows:

Lost & Found
Lost an item?  Found an item and not sure where to bring it?  The Dean’s Office is your COB Lost & Found, collecting and storing lost items from the College of Business.  If you’ve lost an item, find us in 106 White Hall to inquire if we’ve received it.  If you’ve found an item you believe someone has misplace, bring it down to us anytime Monday through Friday between 8:00 am  – 4:30 pm.
