According to the CFA Institute\u2019s website, this competition \u201cprovides university students with hands-on mentoring and intensive training in financial analysis. Students work in teams to research and analyze a publicly traded company \u2014 sometimes even meeting face-to-face with company management. Each team writes a research report on their assigned company with a buy, sell, or hold recommendation and may be asked to present and defend their analysis to a panel of industry professionals.\u201d \u00a0The Nicholls team consists of three to five undergraduate or graduate students selected by the finance faculty and receive credit for FINC 456: Advanced Investments .<\/p><div><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">The 2018\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"m_8064590499448147478gmail-m_5039561400518904683gmail-il\" style=\"font-size: 16px\">CFA<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">\u00a0Institute Research Team from Nicholls State University was named one of ten finalists based on the strength of their written report.\u00a0 Along with their sponsors Drs.\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"il\" style=\"font-size: 16px\">John<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px\"> Lajaunie and\u00a0 Shari Lawrence, they traveled to Southern Methodist University February 17 for final oral presentations. by the finance faculty to compete in the Community Bank Case Study Competition. \u00a0The student team will partner with a local community bank to develop a case study using the bank\u2019s own unique story which addresses questions posed by the Conference of State Bank Supervisors, the sponsor of the competition. \u00a0Students will write a \u201cbrief, up to 25-pages in length that includes a 1-2 page executive summary and up to 10 pages in tables and charts, that thoroughly discusses the case study findings. \u00a0Student teams must submit a video of no more than 10 minutes that highlights the teams\u2019 case study findings while showcasing the partnered community bank. \u201d\u00a0 \u00a0In each of the two years the CBA has participated, the team has placed in the top 15 teams
