About Nicholls State University Cheerleaders:<\/strong><\/p>

Nicholls State University Cheerleaders play a pivotal role in fostering school spirit and representing the university at various events including home and away games for football, basketball, and other sports, as well as community engagements and alumni functions. The team comprises both Co-ed and All-girl squads and requires a full-year commitment from May 2024 to April 2025.<\/p>

Eligibility Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>

  • All applicants must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above at the time of tryouts.<\/li>
  • Proof of GPA through transcripts and a current physical is mandatory during registration on Friday before tryouts.<\/li>
  • Attendance at a mandatory away camp during the summer (July 25-28) is required for all team members.<\/li><\/ul>

    • Early scheduling<\/li>
    • Free University gear and travel<\/li>
    • Opportunities for public appearances<\/li>
    • Access to a strength and conditioning coach<\/li>
    • Potential financial scholarships<\/li><\/ul>

      Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>

      • Collegiate Image:<\/strong> Applicants must maintain an “All-American” look, including physical fitness, grooming, poise, and confidence. Visible piercings and tattoos are not allowed during university functions.<\/li>
      • Interview:<\/strong> Each applicant will face a panel interview assessing their knowledge of the university and passion for the sport.<\/li>
      • Crowd-Involvement Cheer\/Band Chant:<\/strong> Judges look for genuine enthusiasm, energy, and effective communication with the crowd.<\/li>
      • Fight Song:<\/strong> Knowledge of the Nicholls State University Fight Song is mandatory.<\/li><\/ul>

        Tumbling\/Jumps Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>

        Various tumbling and jumping skills are required, including:<\/p>

        • Toe touch with tuck or series handspring<\/li>
        • Cartwheel tuck<\/li>
        • Your best running pass<\/li>
        • Your best standing pass<\/li><\/ul>

          Stunt Skill Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>

          • All Girl:<\/li>
          • Full-up<\/li>
          • Switch-up to lib<\/li>
          • Extended body line stunt<\/li><\/ul>

            Dismount:<\/strong><\/p>

            Twisting dismount (single or double)<\/p>

            Coed:<\/strong><\/p>

            • Toss extend<\/li>
            • Hands lib<\/li>
