self-assessment: identify your strengths, goals, skills, interests, etc.<\/li><li>Research the company.<\/li><li>Rehearse what you plan to say. Practice answers to common and uncommon questions.<\/li><li>Prepare good questions for the employer, questions that pertain only to the job.<\/li><li>Arrive a few minutes early.<\/li><li>Go alone. Do not bring friends or family with you to an interview.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-16df99a\" data-id=\"16df99a\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d29e4df elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"d29e4df\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h3><strong>DURING THE INTERVIEW<\/strong><\/h3><ul><li>Greet the interviewer by his last name and offer him a firm handshake and warm smile.<\/li><li>Be aware of non-verbal communication.<\/li><li>Wait until you are offered a seat.<\/li><li>Sit up straight, look alert, speak clearly and forcefully, but stay as relaxed as possible.<\/li><li>Make good eye contact, avoid nervous mannerisms and try to be a good listener as well as a good talker.<\/li><li>Don&#8217;t forget to smile and use humor when appropriate.<\/li><li>Be specific, concise and detailed in your answers. The more pertinent job-related information you offer, the better the employer can evaluate your potential and abilities.<\/li><li>Offer examples of your work that document your best qualities.<\/li><li>Be truthful. Don&#8217;t be evasive and try not to answer more than necessary. Answer all questions and stick to the point. Remember, you usually have only 30 minutes for an interview.<\/li><li>Dress professionally and be well groomed.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-3e63c6d elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"3e63c6d\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-wide\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-a510a8a\" data-id=\"a510a8a\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d133899 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"d133899\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h3><strong>CLOSING THE INTERVIEW<\/strong><\/h3><ul><li>Don&#8217;t be discouraged if no definite offer is made or specific salary discussed. The first interview is usually only a screening interview.<\/li><li>If you get the impression that the interview is not going well or that you have already been rejected, do not let your discouragement show. Once in a while, an interviewer who is genuinely interested in you may seem to discourage you to test your reaction.<\/li><li>Be sure to have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nicholls.edu\/career\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/79\/2019\/10\/Questions-to-Ask-Employers-1.pdf\">questions for the interviewer<\/a>. Prepare them in advance and ask those that weren&#8217;t covered during the interview. It is expected of you to ask questions. Good questions show a real interest in the job and an eagerness to learn.<\/li><li>Thank the interviewer for his time and express your interest in the position.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-9f14346\" data-id=\"9f14346\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-86ad3db elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"86ad3db\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h3><strong>AFTER THE INTERVIEW<\/strong><\/h3><ul><li>Send a &#8220;thank you&#8221; letter to the interviewer.<\/li><li>Assess the interview.
