Mathematics Program<\/h4>\n

The University awards two degrees from this department, the Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and the Master of Science in Community\/Technical College Mathematics. A student earning the Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics must complete the curriculum listed below, with one of the indicated concentrations in Advanced Mathematics, Computer Science, or Secondary Mathematics Education. Students are encouraged to inquire about their concentration focus areas with their advisors or the Department Head.<\/p>\n

Minor in Mathematics<\/h4>\n

A minor in Mathematics requires the completion of MATH 165, 166, and 265 and nine additional hours to be chosen from MATH 355, 358, 360, 405, 407, 423, 461, 465, 471, 481, 482, 485, 488, 491, and 495. A grade of C or better is required in each course.<\/p>\n

Minor in Computer Science (CMPS)<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The University offers a minor in Computer Science upon the successful completion of CMPS 130, 135, 221, 312, 406, 410, and 418. A grade of C or better is required in each Computer Science course.<\/p>\n

Minor in Internet Studies and Web Development (ISWD)<\/strong><\/h4>\n

An innovative minor in Internet Studies and Web Development is offered to students wishing to supplement their major with knowledge of the Internet while focusing on different areas including Web tools, webpage and online database creation, and other current topics. The minor consists of CMPS 125, CMPS 250, CMPS 340, CMPS 470 and 6 hours of 300- and 400-level electives that address content and issues related to Internet Studies and Web Development. Preferably these 6 hours or electives will be in courses in the student\u2019s major. These electives must be approved by the Head of the Department of Mathematics.<\/p>\n
