On September 23, 1948, Francis T. Nicholls Junior College, then a division of Louisiana State University, opened its doors to students of the region. Now, 75 years later, Nicholls State University has grown into an economic driver of the region, providing professionals prepared for the workforce, from accountants and biologists to social workers and teachers and countless careers between. Nicholls looks to continue the growth of the region for many years to come.
