Commencement Information

The Spring 2019 Commencement will be held Saturday, May 18, 2019 in Stopher Gymnasium on the Nicholls campus. Nicholls State University will be holding three commencement ceremonies for Spring 2019 to provide you with a more personable, comfortable experience. To ensure safety and maintain state fire marshal limits on building capacity, tickets will be used to monitor attendance. Each graduation candidate will be allowed up to 7 tickets in this initial distribution. Graduation candidates must pick up their tickets May 6th through May 10th, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, in the Dean’s Office of your college. Additional tickets may be available following the initial distribution; please check with your Dean’s Office May 13th through 16th if you need extra tickets. More specific information can be found in the attached Commencement Guidelines.

Graduation candidates will participate as indicated in the following chart.  Graduate School students will participate in the session assigned to their college:

Session I

9:00 a.m.

  • College of Arts and Sciences                                           

Please report to Peltier Auditorium on the Nicholls campus no later than 8:00 a.m. for instructions and to form the processional to the gymnasium.

Session II

12:00 Noon

  • College of Business Administration
  • College of Nursing

Please report to Peltier Auditorium on the Nicholls campus no later than 11:00 a.m. for instructions and to form the processional to the gymnasium.

Session III

3:00 p.m.

  • College of Education and Behavioral Sciences
  • Chef John Folse Culinary Institute

Please report to Peltier Auditorium on the Nicholls campus no later than 2:00 p.m. for instructions and to form the processional to the gymnasium.

There will be no reserved seating. Tickets are required for entry. Please notify your guests to arrive early to sit in designated areas on a first-come, first-served basis. Seating for individuals with disabilities will be available.  

Attached are important instructions concerning the distribution of tickets and the commencement program. Please study these carefully. When you arrive, you should report immediately to your seat in Peltier Auditorium. You will be asked to complete a short employment survey card with pencils provided.  All diplomas will be mailed.  Please log in to your Banner Self Service account to be sure your mailing address on file is current.
