“I came in as a Visiting Professor in the Spring of 2014 and subsequently was offered the Assistant Professorship in the Fall of 2014. I provide clinical supervision to Practicum I and II students in the Clinical Community Counseling Track, teach one class on Clinical Human Sexuality, Introduction to Clinical Community Counseling, and currently a special population class on Crisis Intervention. I also rotate oversight of the counseling lab with other faculty.”
Accomplishments in relation to professional occupational field:
“My research interests are in Counseling Pedagogy and Human Sexuality. I am working toward my certification as a Certified Clinical Sex Educator and Therapist. I am a member of the Louisiana Counseling Association, the ALGBTIC – LOUISIANA Association of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered Issues in Counseling of Louisiana, the American Counseling Association and the Association of Counselor Education and Supervision. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a National Certified Counselor via the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC). I have presented topics on Mental Health Rehabilitation/Recovery on the local and state level. I have also presented at the Louisiana Counseling Association’s annual conference on Sero-Discordant HIV Couples and Clinical Implications. I am in the process of becoming a CASA volunteer as well.”
What are some interesting facts about yourself?
“I live in New Orleans with my partner and our three Boston Terriers, BruceWillis, TimMcGraw, and SamanthaJones. I have two sons and one grandson. I have worked as a Clinician in some capacity with the State of Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals for twenty years working with the Seriously Mentally Ill and youth diagnosed with an Emotional Behavioral Disorder. I also have a private practice. In my spare time, I enjoy anything related to the ocean and the beach. We recently went to Santorini Greece. I plan to live there for at least one summer.”
