They must go through an interview process conducted by the Department of Teacher Education and Family and Consumer Sciences and agree to participate in professional development activities.<\/p><p><strong>For Professional Development Schools<\/strong>, mentoring teachers must have at least three years of teaching experience, get a recommendation by the principal or curriculum supervisor and teach in their area of certification. They must be willing to participate in professional development. Mentor teachers will be encouraged to complete the assessor training or a course in supervision of student teaching. At the conclusion of each semester, mentor teachers will assist in evaluating candidates\u2019 field experiences and competency levels and provide data for program improvement.<\/p><p class=\"style2\">For supervising teachers, professional development will consist of an orientation to the student teaching program and the portfolio assessment process.
