April 1, 2020’s 3:05 p.m. Faculty Senate meeting will be held virtually in accordance with emergency exceptions to the state’s Open Meetings statutes (gubernatorial Proclamation Number JBE 2020 – 30 of March 17, 2020; attorney general’s memorandum of March 19, 2020, regarding meeting of public bodies under this proclamation). This allows for “essential” meeting of public bodies with stipulations.
Under these provisions, the Nicholls Faculty Senate will consider only those matters of immediate concern. The meeting will be conducted via Google Hangout Meets.

Notice will be sent via University email and through the University’s communication office Tuesday before 1 p.m.
Members of the Senate will be asked to keep their cameras on throughout the meeting, but will have their microphones muted until recognized by the Senate President. Members of the Senate are asked to keep their remarks brief and confined to matters of immediate concern.
Public Comment There are two options to provide public comment for the Faculty Senate meeting, prior to or during the meeting. Below are the processes for both options. Any public comments received will be read during the meeting.
• Prior to Meeting: Emails will be received up to 2:55 pm on Wednesday, April 1. All emails must be submitted to nichollsstatefacsenate@gmail.com(this a temporary account sent up for this purpose) and must include the Agenda Item number, your name and a brief statement related to issues of immediate concern. If you wish to speak during the meeting, please indicate in your email. You will be addressed during the meeting. Comments will be limited to two minutes and must relate to matters of immediate concern.
• During the Meeting: Within the meeting software (both web and app based) to provide comments, you must include the Agenda Item number, your name and a brief statement. Please note that all comments submitted are visible to all participants and must be related to matters of immediate concern. These comments will be read.

Observers will be required to keep both their microphones and cameras off unless recognized by the Faculty Senate President.
