{"id":2100,"date":"2011-05-10T15:34:20","date_gmt":"2011-05-10T15:34:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nicholls.edu\/financial-aid\/?page_id=2100"},"modified":"2019-10-04T14:44:52","modified_gmt":"2019-10-04T14:44:52","slug":"repeats","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.nicholls.edu\/financial-aid\/policies\/repeats\/","title":{"rendered":"Repeated Coursework Policy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Effective July 1, 2011, Federal Regulations specify that students may receive federal financial aid funding for one repetition of a previously passed course.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Examples of repeated coursework that MAY count towards a student\u2019s enrollment status for the purposes of determining financial aid eligibility are listed below:\n<ul>\n<li>Repeated coursework may be included if the student received an unsatisfactory or failing grade. Student may repeat failed course until it is passed.<\/li>\n<li>Repeated coursework may be included when determining enrollment status in a term-based program if a student needs to meet an academic standard for a particular previously passed course, such as a minimum grade. Example: Student received a \u2018D\u2019 in a course which requires a minimum grade of \u2018C\u2019 for his\/her major. Please note that this is limited to one repetition of a passed course.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Examples of repeated coursework that may NOT count towards a student\u2019s enrollment status for the purpose of determining financial aid eligibility is listed below:\n<ul>\n<li>Retaking a passed course more than once. If a student receives a \u2018D\u2019 in a course and decides to repeat the course to improve his\/her GPA, he\/she may repeat this passed course ONE time. However, if the student wants to repeat it a second time, the course would not count towards the student\u2019s enrollment status.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>NOTES:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All repeated courses affect financial aid satisfactory academic progress calculations. Regardless of whether the student received financial aid or not, all repeated coursework must be counted as attempted credits.<\/li>\n<li>Certain course descriptions listed in the Nicholls\u2019 Catalog may state that a specific course \u201cmust be repeated for degree\u201d or \u201cmay be repeated for credit if content differs.\u201d Examples of these types of courses are Music 100 and Music 161.
