For this reason, the University has established the procedure detailed below.<\/p>\n<p>Louisiana residents enrolled full-time who are meeting the minimum Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) standards may be eligible to receive an exemption of the academic excellence fee, operational fee, as well as certain tuition and fee increases. Undergraduate students must qualify for Pell Grant as determined by the Department of Education.<\/p>\n<p>Additional Eligibility Criteria (Remaining Need):<\/p>\n<p>For students who live on campus, the cost of mandatory tuition and fees up to 15 hours, a $600 book allowance and actual University charges for housing\/meals will serve as the base calculation figure. For commuter students, the actual cost of tuition and fees and a $600 book allowance will serve as the base calculation figure.<\/p>\n<p>From this figure, the following will be subtracted to determine unmet financial need:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Pell Grants, SEOG Grants and any other federally funded grants;<\/li>\n<li>State grants, including Go-Grants and TOPS Awards;<\/li>\n<li>Any University based aid, including scholarships;<\/li>\n<li>Any Private funded scholarships; and<\/li>\n<li>Loan qualification amount based on student\u2019s classification.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The remaining number, if any, is the student\u2019s unmet need.\u00a0 Students who have an unmet need will be eligible for the Hardship Fee Exemption. Fee Exemptions must be applied for every year. Undergraduate students must enroll full time and successfully complete at least 12 hours with a 2.0 cumulative Grade Point Average to renew the exemption for the second semester. Graduate students must enroll full time and successfully complete at least 9 hours with a 3.0 cumulative Grade Point Average to renew the exemption for the second semester.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Process<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Students who wish to apply for a hardship fee exemption based on the above criteria, must complete the Application for Hardship Fee Exemption. Hardship Fee Exemption applications must be submitted on the last business day before classes begin for the semester in which you are applying.<\/p>\n<p>If the application form is currently available, you may complete the <a href=\"https:\/\/nichollscentral.etrieve.cloud\/#\/form\/93\/?header=false&amp;focus=true\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Hardship Fee Exemption form<\/a> online.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The University is concerned about students with financial hardships being able to pay for tuition and fees.
