Become a PULSE Leader

Apply to be a part of this exciting new LYFE (Living Your Freshman Experience) Living-Learning Community in Ellender at Nicholls State University by “Keepin a PULSE on LYFE!”

The Peers Utilizing LYFE Skills Education Leaders (PULSE Leader) are a live-in paraprofessional staff member who serve as a role model and peer educator; provide support for student learning and academic success within their residential community.  A PULSE Leader focuses on the development of a comfortable first year students living-learning community in Ellender that fosters academic success and community engagement. They develop a strong knowledge of academic resources on campus and connect floor members to these resources.  PULSE Leaders are students who serve as members of the Residence Life staff and are directly supervised by the West Area Coordinator of Freshman Programs. PULSE Leaders interact frequently and communicate often with resident students; therefore, they have an outstanding opportunity to contribute to the residents’ development and education through academic weekly tutoring and bringing faculty and staff into the residents halls for interaction. They are also responsible for implementing academic LYFE programs, such as the Faculty Series, “Guess Who’s Coming to Ellender,” through which Residence Life academic goals can be achieved.
