Dr. Wayment, Chemistry Students, Published in Journals for Sugarcane Research

Dr. Darcey Wayment, associate professor of chemistry, had a paper published and another accepted for his studies on the chemical treatment of sugarcane seed billets. Several Nicholls Chem alumni, Nicholas Mayon, Kylie Torres and Harley Ledet, are co-authors on the papers in Journal of the American Society of Sugar Cane Technologists and Journal of Environmental Science and Health.

Sustainable Aquaculture, a book written by Dr. Raj Boopathy, Alcee Fortier Distinguished Service Professor of Biologicals Sciences, is among the top used books that addresses the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Chemistry Professor Published in Environmental Science and Technology

Dr. Troy Alivio, assistant professor of chemistry, published a paper with colleagues from his alma mater, Texas A&M University. The paper titled “Elucidating the Role of Dissolved Organic Matter and Sunlight in Mediating the Formation of Ag–Au Bimetallic Alloy Nanoparticles in the Aquatic Environment” was published in Environmental Science and Technology. Art History Professor Dr. Cibelli Publishes Research in International Journal

Dr. Deborah Cibelli, professor, Department of Art, has published a research article titled, “Vasari’s Aretine Gonfalone as an Exposition on Style,” in the international journal, Iconocrazia Rivista scientifica semestrale di scienze sociali e simbolica politica, published in Bari, Italy. Volume 18 issue 2 of Iconocrazia is dedicated to the memory of the art historian Sarah Jordan Lippert (1975-2019), director of art history in the visual arts department of the University of Michigan-Flint. Throughout her career, Dr. Lippert published extensively on Renaissance and 19th-century art. The article can be viewed here.

Nicholls Seeks Hall of Fame Nominations

Faculty and staff can nominate graduates of Hall of Fame nominations. The student affairs office is looking for students who have distinguished themselves and the university through academic and extra-curricular achievements. Only students with a minimum 3.0 GPA who graduated in the summer and fall of 2020, and those who will graduate spring 2021 are eligible for consideration. 

Nomination forms are due by Friday, Feb. 12 and may be found here.

To be considered, nominated students must complete a co-curricular activities reporting form.  The co-curricular activities reporting form is due in the student affairs office by Thursday, Feb. 18.
